REVIEW: Shadow of the Colossus

September 16, 2006

Boy... I really don't know what to say about this game. I both really love it, and really hate it. Let me start off with why I love it.

This game just feels epic. I have never played any game like this that made me feel that way. When you see this huge Colossus just roaming the earth you can only just say to your self "oh shit." The music that is playing for each of the Colossus is great too. I don't really know how to describe it other than it makes it feel even more epic. It was also fantastic how each of the Colossus was set up. Each one played like their own level and each one was like a puzzle. Trying to figure out how to beat each one was great, and made beating them even more enjoyable. I will say though, it seemed like everytime I killed one, I just wanted to say "Man this guy sure is a real asshole, what the hell did they ever do to him?" While it does give you a reason for killing all these colossi (sp?) it just seemed pretty weak. :)

With that said, let me move on to why I hate this game. I don't know if it was just me, but never before I seen a camera system work as this one. The camera system in this game is atrocious. It was NEVER where I wanted it. When I did get it to where I wanted it, it would move to some shitty spot so I couldn't see my jump. I spent more time fighting the camera than I did trying to fight the colossus. I died more times because of this shitty camera than any other game before it. Folks, we have a winner for the worst camera ever created.

After all of the camera bullshit, I am glad that I played this game. And for 20 bucks? You should too! Now we wait to see what they can do with the PS3!

REVIEW: Metal Gear Solid Digital Graphic Novel

August 27,2006

I don't know why I had this on my list for so long... its not really a game, and if anyone had the time, they could "read" the whole thing in about two hours or so. There is really nothing to it really, its just a digital comic book of Metal Gear Solid. The art is just fantastic. It really made the whole thing pretty enjoyable and it was one of those things where I wanted to keep on going just to see what the next page looked liked. Ashley Wood did a great job with and I can see why they asked him to do the cut scenes for Metal Gear Solid Portable Ops. I can't wait!
