REVIEW: God of War
October 3, 2005Beat God of War. Hands down, game of the year for PlayStation 2. Fantastic story and voice acting. Great music too! They spent a long time on this game and it shows. There are things that this game does that I didn't know the PS2 could even do. Things like loading times. This is the only game that I can think of, that I could play, from start to finish in one sitting, and not see one single loading screen. When I first played the game, I remember hitting start, and already I am into the game. Everything just felt seamless. Now that's not to say there aren't any loading screens, they are hidden very well, and it doesn't even feel like it. There are some points where you might see a little "loading..." text on the screen, but it shows up for like less than a second, and I am back to playing. There is also loading when you load a game from the memory card, but I can under stand that.
Also, the way they made everything tie together in some way just put a smile on my face. I don't wanna give to much away for those of you who haven't played it/still going through it, but if I mention "the grave and the sword" I think the people who have played will know right away what I am talking about. It just feels good to play a finished game. (Unlike PoP2....) Also, beating the game lets you unlock a lot of goodies like movies on how the game was made and other awesome stuff. I love games that do this, and I wish more of them would take advantage of it. Also, watching the stuff basically gives away the story for the second game, as well as hint at what Kratos will look like on the PS3. (Again people who have beat the game and saw these things should know what I am talking about.)
