HALL OF SHAME: Metal Gear Ac!d

January 11, 2006

Its first victim will have to be Metal Gear Acid. I have no idea what the hell is up with this game. If you remember in 2005, when I made my first post about the game, I said that I really enjoyed it. I dug the how the whole card system worked and it felt really fresh. Down the line though, the more I played it, the less I enjoyed it. I felt like I was spending more time working on trying to figure out how to play the game, and less time having fun with it. I want to like this game, but I just can't.

I think a number of things have brought the game down for me. One, there is alot of reading. Not that I don't mind it, but if there is one thing I always disliked about the Metal Gear franchise, are the insanely long codec parts. (MGS2 I am looking at you). MGA plays like one big ass codec scene. You play the game for like 5 minutes , then you have to sit through like 25 minutes of talking. (Seriously) Second, there is a huge learning curve that I was never able to get out of. The way the game tried to explain everything just never made any sense to me. I couldn't under stand what the hell some of the card were supposed to do, and how to even use them. By the time I figured out how to load and a gun with bullets, I pretty much given up on the game.

Will I return to the game at some point? I don't know... I want to play it, but everytime I try to I just get bored to tears. sad.gif Has anyone else played this game and had fun with it?
